LITURGICAL MINISTRY

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

Eucharistic ministers are a group of parishioners who are scheduled to distribute communion during Mass on Sunday, Wednesday evenings, and Holy Days. 

 

LECTORS

Lectors proclaim the Scripture readings and the Prayer of the Faithful at Masses.

Boys and girls in grades 5-12 are invited to become servers for Masses.  They may join at any time.

 

ADULT FUNERAL SERVERS

These are men and women of the parish who serve at funeral Masses.

 

USHERS

As part of the welcoming activity in the parish, they assist people with seating at services and provide the necessary information of the parish facilities; assist in the good order of the liturgy and are responsible for collecting the offerings at Mass.

 

MINISTRY OF MUSIC

CHOIR

The choir sing on Sunday, Holy days, holidays (especially Christmas and Holy Week) and whoever can make it to funerals.  There are usually approximately eight practices per year primarily before Easter and Christmas.  The Choir is open to anyone wanting to sing, and new members are welcome anytime.

  

PRAYER REQUESTS

Parishioners who have volunteered to pray are contacted and given the intentions and those petitions are passed on through the prayer chain.  Anyone wishing prayers or wanting to minister through prayer may call Barb or Julie.

 

ST. MARY PARISH ORGANIZATIONS

ST. MARY LADIES’ SODALITY

Meetings are held in the School Hall on the second Monday evening of the month in February, April, October and December.  Among their activities are the care of the altar and school hall; embroidering baptismal cloths; running lunch stand for the Young Farmers auction; aiding the Forty Hours celebration, and the selling of Christmas candy.  New members are always welcome. 

 

ST. MARY MEN’S SODALITY

Meetings are held periodically throughout the year on an as-needed basis, normally after mass in the school hall.  Among their activities are the care and upkeep of the grounds around the church and school. They also sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt and donate pizza for the end of the year CCD party.  An annual chicken dinner sale funds the many projects.  New members are always welcome.
